Industrial Processes

Quite often the justification for automation is to remove people from dangerous or difficult conditions. Clear Automation installed a solution for a customer process in which large steel containers are filled with ceramic pellets and a hazardous liquid. The containers are moved through some process stations before being emptied into a dryer. A person performing that function is burdened with cumbersome protective clothing. But the job is well-suited for a large industrial robot while the operator monitors the equipment from a safe distance.

We’re also competing in a new area for us. We are developing solutions to sand and polish the inside surfaces of aluminum castings. Currently this process is performed by people. They require protection from aluminum dust and they are faced with ergonomic challenges as they process surfaces that are difficult to reach while holding vibratory tools. We’re going to automate the process so that the operator can control it from the exterior of the sanding booth. We’re planning to reduce the process time by half, maybe more. Did we mention that we’re working inside the casting? Because a lot of companies are polishing the outsides of castings, but few are inside. Bookmark this page so you can read about our progress.

If it’s a difficult job, The Solution Is CLEAR.
