Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role:
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the SR. Mechanical Engineer will have primary responsibility for the mechanical design phase of the projects assigned. The candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team environment in coordination with other disciplines of engineering, machining, assembly and final system builds.
Responsibilities:
- Must work efficiently to create complete design packages for each job including complete drawing packages, complete BOM’s, purchase requisitions, restocking and return of unused materials, and manual completion.
- Drive project design from customer specifications and sales quotation documents.
- Collaborate with electrical engineering and manufacturing to drive projects.
- Creation of all SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings for production approved process.
- Determine all design calculations required for projects.
- Adhere to Clear Automations design standards and numbering convention.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Apply G D&T standards to prints.
- Design of mechanics and programs shall be based on established standards, guidelines, and norms.
- Correspond with the customer contact at the direction of Project Manager.
- Ensure that the Project Manager is kept apprised of all open issues as they may arise that affect either the monetary or time budget for each project.
- Establish lists of the critical path items required from the customer to maintain schedules.
- Must be able to work with technical writer in compiling necessary information in order to complete project manuals on a timely basis.
- Must follow Company procedures regarding work flow throughout the shop area.
- May include some project management duties as appropriate.
- Understand preliminary machine concept, obtain all necessary quote and spec information from sales department as needed. Obtain all monetary and time budgets from the Project Manager.
- Work closely with staff and the customer to design the machine to meet the mutually agreed upon specifications while maintaining schedules and profitability. This includes providing necessary internal support for assembly team and programmers.
- Participate in formal and informal design review meetings between electrical engineering, programmers and the assembly team, as required.
- Follow all Company purchasing guidelines for all materials and services purchased.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
- Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in machine design/systems design.
- Must have advanced core skills in SolidWorks 2017
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Previous experience working in the automation industry (a plus).
- Must have knowledge and experience with the application of robots and vision systems (including lighting, lensing, etc.).
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiar with ergonomics practices.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and respective ISO standards.
- Experience with generating specifications, purchasing, and qualifications of equipment.
- Experience with Microsoft Products.
- Experience with Google Suite (a plus).

Compensation:
- Full time, salaried position. (Salary based on experience & qualifications).
- Typical office hours- with some flexibility.
- 9-Paid holidays.
